Guangzhou Modern Hospital, established in 2005, is a national Grade 2 comprehensive hospital that integrates healthcare, rehabilitation, preventive healthcare and specializes in tumor minimally invasive. The hospital is also an international JCI accredited hospital, Guangzhou Medical Insurance Designated Hospital, Provincial Medical Insurance Networking Hospital, Provincial Employment Injury Insurance Hospital and Provincial Enterprise Public Funded Healthcare Designated Hospital. 

In 2015, the Singaporean Perennial Real Estate Holdings Limited officially invested in the hospital, which allowed the Modern Hospital Guangzhou to become a JCI-accreditated Sino-Singaporean joint venture hospital. The north hospital area of the hospital covers an area of 20,000 square meters with a bed size of 300 and the south hospital area (which will be put into use at the end of 2017) covers a structural area of 9, 000 square meters, with a bed size of 100 and an employee size of 500. The hospital owns an expert team composed of international and domestic famous scholars, professors and doctors with oversea study background. Multiple experts hold post at professional committee of the provincial and municipal level.

The hospital has a key specialty of oncology, the departments of internal medicine, surgery (general surgery, anorectal surgery, bone surgery), gynecology, reproductive health infertility, pediatrics, TCM, TCM physical therapy, E.N.T. and eyes, stomatology, physical examination, blood purification center, ICU, plastics, etc. and auxiliary departments including medical imaging center and clinical laboratory center. 

The key specialty of the hospital——Department of Oncology. Since its inception in 2005, the Department of Oncology at our hospital has been expert in various minimally invasive therapies and has been working to provide diagnosis and combined treatment for all kinds of tumor including breast cancer, stomach cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer, malignant lymphoma, gynecological tumors, head and neck tumors, bone tumors and malignant melanoma. The hospital has attracted numerous cancer patients from China and outside China including southeastern Asian countries for treatment.

On January 5, 2017, the chairman of the Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Treatment for Tumor, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association has officially become the chief scientist of the “Tumor Minimally Invasive Discipline”, which put our hospital on the fast track onto the development of tumor minimally invasive discipline.

The hospital plans to invest heavily in 2017 to introduce the latest generation of TOMO knife and cyber knife for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor radiotherapy. So far, the hospital has been performing the following characteristic tumor treatment technologies:

Interventional therapy: The hospital mainly performs systematic interventional treatment for all kinds of tumor such as liver cancer, lung cancer. The hospital performs on average about 2000 interventional procedures each year. The number of procedures ranks first among the hospitals in Guangdong Province. 

Microwave ablation treatment: The hospital mainly performs microwave ablation treatment for liver tumor, lung tumor, thyroid tumor, breast tumor, superficial lymph nodes, etc. The procedure is highly welcomed by patients due to its short duration of treatment and good efficacy.

Nanoknife: The hospital has successfully performed the first nanoknife procedure for pancreatic cancer. Currently, nanoknife is mainly used for inoperative pancreatic cancer or liver tumor. Its advantages are the lack of damage to adjacent organs including blood vessels, nerves and bile ducts. Dozens of patients have been treated since the introduction of this technology in 2016.

Argon-helium cryosurgery: The hospital uses combined treatment including argon-helium cryosurgery mainly for solid tumors for improved efficacy. More than 600 procedures have been performed each year since the introduction of this technology when the hospital was established.

Ozone therapy: The hospital uses this treatment to assist other tumor treatments. This treatment improves the oxygen supply for tumor tissues, increases its sensitivity to radiation therapy and chemotherapy, improves the immunity of cancer patients and reduces the recurrences of tumor. Satisfactory clinical effects have been achieved in our hospital.

Apart from those technologies, the Department of Oncology in our hospital also performs all types of surgery for tumor, such as modified surgery for breast cancer, breast preserving surgery, breast reconstruction surgery, which produce good clinical efficacy.

In addition, for better serving the breast cancer patients, the hospital set up the clinical center for prevention and treatment of breast cancer and breast cancer inpatient area on April 28, 2016. A multidisciplinary team (MDT) was established to implement the treatment of single type of disease in a refined manner.

The hospital was successively awarded the title and qualifications of the membership institute of “Chinese Anti-Cancer Association ”, “Health Law Postgraduate Internship Base of Southern Medical University”, “international JCI accreditated hospital”, “Guangdong Medical University Teaching Base”, ”Clinical Base for Use of Nanoknife ”, and were designated as friendship cooperation institute by many national health departments. The hospital has established permanent friendship hospital with many international hospitals, and its branches are scatter across Asia, including Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam, as well as South Africa and the Europe.

Mayo Clinic, Singaporean National University Hospital, and Singapore National Cancer Center.

The hospital has been consistently sticking to the concept of “science improves the development of the hospital and talents strengthen the capability of the hospital “and paid great attachment to and encouraging scientific innovation. In the past years, the clinical staff of the hospital has been actively participating scientific programs. The professional paper titled “Validation of Important Channels of Viral Hepatitis B-Related Hepatocellular Cancer Based on Crosstalk and Network Methods “authored by Director Peng Xiaochi, the director of key tumor specialty has been published on international famous SCI core journal Genetics and Molecular Research Journal. The Study Report regarding Feasibility of Cryotherapy for Treatment of Postoperative Recurrences and Metastases from Three Negative Breast Cancer registered by the Director Dai Wenyan and the Efficacy Evaluation and Safety Analysis of Nanoknife in Combination with Gemcitabine vs. Radiation Therapy in Combination with Gemcitabine for Treatment of Local Advanced Pancreatic Cancer registered by the Director Huang Deliang have been established as program among the Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Health Scientific and Technological Programs. The hospital has published dozens of papers in national and provincial professional journals.
